This spring the Delaware Attorney General's Office will host a series of interactive community meetings on neighborhood crime. The meetings will feature the Community Prosecution program, which Attorney General Biden launched in Wilmington in 2007 and expanded last year to all of New Castle County.
Community Prosecution is a collaborative approach to fighting crime. It works to prevent crime by opening channels of communication between residents, community organizations, prosecutors, and police to identify the most severe criminal behavior and the unique needs of individual communities - and tackle it head on.
The community meetings on neighborhood crime will take place at the following locations and times:

At each meeting, a community prosecutor will explain how community prosecution works. In addition, a panel of prosecutors with specialties in a range of crimes will open a dialogue with residents and community leaders focused on the goal of making every Delaware neighborhood safer. Staff from the Attorney General's Nuisance Abatement, Senior Protection, and Victim/Witness Services programs will also participate, and law enforcement agencies from across New Castle County will be present.
Residents, business owners, and civic leaders are encouraged to attend, share their concerns and ideas, and help shape the direction of community prosecution in their neighborhoods. Please post the attached flyer, which contains information about the spring 2009 public meetings, and forward it to friends, neighbors, and community organizations.
Each meeting is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Residents with questions about the community meetings on neighborhood crime are encouraged to contact the Office of the Attorney General at (302) 577-8288 or e-mail AttorneyGeneral@state.de.us.
