Midtown Parents & Kids is under construction! We?’re in the process of restructuring our website and newsletter so that they are easier to access, distribute, and use. In the meantime, our infant and toddler playgroups continue to thrive. Currently, toddlers meet in the evenings and infants meet in the mornings, but we?’re always finding new members with different schedules who sprout offshoots of our core groups. Additionally, we are collecting contact information for neighbors who have become or will become new parents in 2004, for plans to begin a new infant playgroup this summer. If you are interested in joining or learning more about a neighborhood playgroup, contact Stacey Blasko at 298-9099 or sblasko@wowway.com.
Spring 2004, MPK co-sponsored the annual Storytelling Hour associated with St. Joseph Montessori and Second Avenue Elementary schools?’ Central Ohio Writers of Literature for Children conference. MP&K teamed with St. Joseph Montessori School?’s Cub Scout Pack 244 for "What a Crock!", a community dinner that preceded the Storytelling Hour. The scouts provided an array of crock-pot dinner samples and MPK provided beverages and desserts, each for a nominal charge. The Storytelling Hour is free annually and featured authors Arthur Dorros, Raymond Bial and Patricia Hermes.
MPK is a volunteer organization that supports family living in the Short North neighborhoods. We currently have two vacancies on our Board. Anyone interested in helping MPK serve our neighborhood families, please consider an appointment to the Board. The time commitment is minimal, and it?’s a great way to meet area parents.
