Raggedy Trees line our streets

Posted in: Nokomis Village
Near the "Downtown Nokomis Village" area of 50th and 34th the storms of '98 have left a raggedy and spotty tree canopy that feels unkempt. It seems to me that this loss has made an unbalanced look to the area. Does anyone know whether specific plans are in the works for the replacement of the trees?

Personally I'd love to see something done with the overhead power lines so that we don't end up with all those large trees looking like someone took an axe to their heads.

Raggedy Trees

No, I don't have an answer as to what the plan is for the trees, but I agree that they look bad. Does anyone out there have access to the powers-that-be to find out how we as a neighborhood can get them to bury those lines? Who does one go to? The leafy canopy that once graced 50th street and so many of our neighborhood streets are sadly gone due to disease; the least we can do is not disgrace the streetscapes further by taking an axe to those remaining giants. I'm willing to help with some work on finding out what we can do. Anyone else?

Tree Replacement

Mark,
There are plans for an Arbor day tree planting at Lake Nokomis this Spring. Should get allot of community volunteers and school children involved. Also tree plantings at Wenona elementary and a few other hard hit blocks. This is quite a bit for the first year. We are hoping for more tree funds from the legislature in the future. Calls to state Rep's could help.
