I think the mowing isn't an issue, but of course the weeds overtaking the mulch areas is. I know that this is a major issue this year, especially the intense heat has made all the weeds grow like crazy. I don't know what the appropriate resolution is, but I do know that we personally would prefer to pay additional than to do sweat labor for it.

Long term?
The open spaces could certainly look better. The grass is extremely dry, obviously because we are not paying for irrigation, weed control, etc. My only worry is the long term effect of only cutting the grass. There are a couple other neighborhoods in this town that aren't maintaining their open spaces very well and they simply do not look good. Thus, we'd be in favor of doing a little more in this department and paying for it. I think a little bit would go a long way.

Pro Care
I've already expressed my major concerns to the President.
I think we need to reevaluate how we manage this asset that is becoming a liability and be real about what it actually costs. We need an experienced service like the one we had. Were they perfect...no. But they understood what was necessary and important and had the resources and staff to make it happen quickly.
To me it appears the proposed cost reduction was actually a reduction in service. We didn't look close enough at what we were getting and paying for vs. what we have today.
If we don't pay for proper day to day care etc... we will be faced with much higher costs for a major overhaul .... that is my fear. In the mean time it plain looks bad. I don't think many would let their home landscaping look like this.
I agree with most, the Matchey's would choose to pay vs. work based on the overall lack of participation. Lets enjoy our neighbors and neighborhood in celebration not laboring.
My 2 cents...
