Safe Driving Guidelines
- Please respect the speed limit. It is not optional nor prudent to exceed the speed limit simply because you are running late or want to get some place faster. Obey the posted speed limits and reduce your speed when warranted by conditions, the presence of children, or the presence of pedestrians.
- Please come to a complete stop at stop signs, stop lights, and where warranted. Your moving vehicle may weigh several tons, and its impact on a human being may kill or harm them seriously.
- Please respect pedestrians. It is the law that you must come to a complete stop at stop signs and stop lights, and allow a path for pedestrians to cross in a designated crosswalk. Look for pedestrians at crosswalks and stop for them. It the a law that you must yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Pedestrians are regularly killed or injured--the impact on your driving record and life would be very serious if you would kill or injure someone, and you can be ticketed for failing to yield to pedestrians.
If you see drivers who disobey the law in your neighborhood, write down their license plate, take a photo of their car, and call the police immediately.
