On May 3, Touchstone Coffee House at 7631 NE Glisan Street will be celebrating its one year anniversary under the ownership of Becky Bilyeu. While a few locals have discovered the neighborhood coffee shop on their daily quest for a great cup of espresso or tea, many people are not aware of the backyard patio tucked behind the shop, the community resource room inside, or the wonderful music performances offered on weekend evenings in the cozy dining room.
The community resource room at Touchstone offers many harder-to-find directories and local newspapers, in addition to space where local businesses and smaller service providers may hang their business cards. Becky also provides a binder where people with rooms or houses to rent can post specific rental information.
On Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm, patrons of Touchstone are treated to music-from first-timers making their debut to well-known, local singer-songwriters. The concerts are kid-friendly and free, but there is a $2.00 drink minimum and tips to the musicians are encouraged.
Performers and budding artists in the community are welcome to give Becky a call at 262-7613 to arrange a booking. The live music calendar can be found on Touchstone?’s web page at www.touchstonecoffeehouse.homepage.com.
