On March 29, the winners in Metro's annual Earth Day Billboard Art Contest were unveiled, and congratulations are in order for Van Anh Nguyen!
The seventh grader at Binnsmead Middle School in Montavilla is one of only four grand-prize winners who will have their artwork displayed on billboards throughout the Portland area. Nearly 1,000 students in grades K-12 from eighty-two schools in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties submitted artwork designed to answer the question, "How can we make less garbage?" The young artists were encouraged to create billboard designs emphasizing the concepts of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Compost, and Choose less-toxic products.
Many thanks to Van Anh Nguyen for giving the residents of Montavilla another reason to hold their heads up high!
