7:07 pm – Janet Martin for the Oregon Foster Parents program – Gave a presentation about what being a foster parent entails. There is a very large need for foster parents for children growing up or temporarily on the streets. She explained the training and certification process, as well as the continual support network available to foster parents. While the majority of children end up returning to a biological family member, many are formally adopted by their foster parents, an experience that David Carter, who fostered and then later adopted two children, would attest to being a very fulfilling experience.
