PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I hope you all enjoyed your summer. It’s hard to believe that it is back to school time. I hope many of you were able to enjoy one of the red flag Fridays that we have held so far. There will be one more to look forward to, so check the “social” section of the newsletter for specifics.

As our quarterly meeting would normally have been held on the first Sunday of August, there will not be a formal meeting this quarter.

The school buses have begun driving through our neighborhood again. Please be extra careful when driving at “before school” and “after school” times as there are students walking along the sidewalks and crossing streets. As always, pay attention to your speed when driving through Tanagerwoods.

On another safety note, we had a couple of incidents reported in the neighborhood of people looking for homes to possibly break into. Being alert and contacting the police quickly enabled one group of “gypsy thieves” to be caught. Having neighbors looking out for each other and letting the rest of us know about these incidents has hopefully made us all a little more careful. Please always report any suspicious activity to the police.

A big thank you goes out to Sally Trumpy for spending so much time keeping the islands looking nice. Thank you to those neighbors who volunteered to help water and keep things growing.

As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-0007 or suzannetufts@msn.com

Respectfully,
Suzanne Tufts

ISLAND LIGHTING

With our long summer daylight hours, there haven’t been as many evening hours to enjoy our new island lighting. Hopefully you have all had a chance to see them. The lighting is subtle but effective, and should not only enhance the beauty of our islands but also make it safer coming into the neighborhood. During the initial phase of the project, many neighbors indicated that they would be willing to make a small, one-time donation to help offset the cost and enable us to light both islands without having to dip into our savings.

For those who have already made a donation, thank you for your generosity. For those of you who were interested in still donating now that the process is complete, please send any donations, marked “Island Lighting” to: TWCA c/o Donna Anderson, 8765 Tanagerwoods Drive.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Would you be interested in helping to provide a dinner to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House? Local organizations provide home-cooked meals to guest families every single night. These meals help RMH provide a “home away from home” for families who have children being treated at the hospital. If you would like to participate (children can be involved in the evening too), please contact Suzanne Tufts at suzannetufts@msn.com.
