Mortimore Neighborhood Association

Welcome to WUNA

Posted in: W University - Tucson
Hi everyone,

Well, here it is, West University Neighborhood's first official web site!

You'll notice it's a fairly basic site, with few bells and whistles - or heavy advertizing. We set it up through a service called Neighborhood Link, which establishes And supports FREE web sites for neighborhoods all over the country, sponsored by local corporations. In our case, the local sponsor is AT&T. Aside from their banner at the top of the page, however, there is no connection between the sponsor and WUNA's content.

The site also provides you a forum to share information and ideas, ask questions, or offer to volunteer for something . Although our monthly WUNA meetings and your ever-popular newsletter mailings will continue as always, the web site offer yet another way to keep in touch and network about neighborhood issues and news.

Please take a moment to cruise around the site and see the various items we need to complete. These include WUNA information and history, announcements of upcoming events, and all sorts of other neat things. The site also contain useful links to local government and other services WUNA members and other site visitors may find helpful. Your suggestions here are also needed.

For the time being, I'll serve as your fearless leader on the project, with access to add and edit; anyone else who wants to help with writing and editing is more than welcome. Let's talk.

I'm looking forward to working with you as we develop the WUNA web site into a useful communication tool for the entire community.

The editor strikes!

For you grammar buffs out there, I figured I'd beat you to it and mention the typo in my third paragraph - it should say ''offers''... fifty lashes!

I'll be more careful next time. Promise.

Hi Mark and WUNA members,

I probably have met many of you..I own Creative Ventures and now Breakout Studios on 4th Avenue. I also am a past president of FAMA and currently a board member. I was hoping to figure a cost efficient way to introduce our new studio to WUNA. We will have Yoga, Piliates, Zumba and Dance Cardio. In fact, this Saturday the 17th we will have our 1st Yoga class. It will be at 11:00 A.M. and we are offering it for $5.00. The class will be instructed by Senthil, he is an amazing instructor and we look forward to his teachings. This class will be for all levels as I will be taking it and this will be personally my 1st time taking Yoga..  Laughing  Or, if you want to get your grove on, this Monday and Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. is our Dance Cardio class, it's fun and quite a workout. It is normally $10.00 but we are offering it to WUNA members for the first time for $5.00.  The studio is in our space next door to the Craft Mall that use to be Native Seeds Search. The address is 526 N 4th Avenue. Maybe sometime we can come introduce ourselves at a board meeting or function..

thanks for your time..

Hi Mark, this is Tim Bacchus Last year just retired from Desert Shadows/Cherry Ave. neighborhood association President since 1977.  Still active but too old to go full time.  As Tucson is to double it's population via vote of City Council in the nest four years we have our work cut out for us.  As a native Tucsonan I see this town turning into a crumby city little by little.  We have to continue the fight to keep this wonderful town sane.

Just a note to let you know that we are still fighting the good fight and you are not alone.
