NEW N.O.D. COMMISSIONED POLL HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR MORE EMERGENCY PLANNING FOR AND BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: A new Harris Interactive survey commissioned by the National Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) found that only 44 percent of people with disabilities say they know whom to contact about emergency plans for their community. The new survey found a noteworthy improvement, however, in the workplace preparedness of people with disabilities who are employed. This report summarizes the proceedings of a seminar hosted by the U.S.
Department of Labor¹s Office of Disability Employment Policy on
December
2-3, 2003 that brought together more than 200 federal managers and
experts
in the areas of disability, emergency preparedness, and workplace
safety.
Attendees had the opportunity to exchange ideas and share information
related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of
emergency
preparedness plans that involve people with disabilities.
