After reading news accounts of the problems on the Route 95 Pawtucket River bridge, I have a solution. Could the city apply for federal funds to move Route 95 in Pawtucket? The new series of bridge repairs is at least the second time in 25 years the Pawtucket bridge has undergone major repairs. How long can temporary repairs last without a permanent replacement to cover increased Route 95 traffic of the 2010's? The Bush Administration has used federal funding to move bridges and highways in Ohio and Kentucky. My suggestion would be to move the highway closer to the Amtrak route along Mineral Spring Avenue and Barton Street. Would the move increase the city's tax base by adding land to the city? Could a highway move increase the value of the new condos at Bayley Lofts and at the former Union Wadding? This bridge movement could finally rid Route 95 of the deadly S-curve. Could anyone else suggest other ideas to solve this transportation problem? Is this idea realistic? Please write back.
WOW

That would be cool but not by the Bush administration unless there was a Halliburton involved.

Change

That would be a significant change in Pawtucket from neighborhoods to planning to thinking about Pawtucket's future. Great Dream but it would take a lot of people thinking and doing so that it would be a reality. Who is up to it?

Arthur, that would be a tie in between the Doyle Administration, especially good thinkers such as Mr.Weiss and Mr. Tetzner, the city planning department, the state planning department and the federal Department of Transportation.
