While it is not completely decided, the thought has come up about raising our annual dues to somewhere in the area of $105 per half.  We are all taking a hit from the fuel crunch and our neighborhood is also taking a hit in the services we are being rendered by fuel sur charges.  This is your opportunity to air you thoughts on this increase so we can consider all thoughts when making the final decision.  Please feel free to be a vocal as your conscience allows in this topic.  One other thing to put on the table is the re-instatement of the late charges on the semi annual dues.  Please express your thoughts in this forum for all to see so we can gather a consensus of our communities opinion so that we as a board can make a decission that reflects the wishes of the community.

I dont see the raising of the dues as big of issue, is everyone paying there dues? I dont feel its right for the board to raise dues to people that pay them if some never pay them.

thanks

Thanks for your reply.  And yes most of us are paying our dues.  There are a few properties that are and have been delinquent, that is why we will re-instate the late fees to encourage payment on time.

I think that imposing a late fee is a very good idea.  I'm actually surprised that there isn't one already.  However, increasing the HOA fee from 99 semi-annually to 105 because of gas.... seems ridiculous.  If you want to increase it, then think of an actual benefit to the home owner.  So many neighborhoods have a playground or beautiful entrances and I would be more than happy to pay more if the money was going to help my neighborhood become nicer.  But, the people that are charging the HOA a fuel surcharge aren't the only people paying high gas prices, we all are.  We all feel the hurt when it cost over $70 to fill our vehicles with gas.  And all they do is mow the "common areas" once a week (if we're lucky, it seems like it's more like once every other week).  We don't exactly have large common areas... we're talking driving the mower around the ponds!  And let us not forget the snow plow removal in the winter, they must show up about twice a year.  If you want to increase the HOA dues then find a different reason, something that will be noticeable, tangible, beneficial.  And if you don't like paying a fuel surcharge, then find someone who won't try to charge one!
