Dear Member,
Let me wish each of you a happy healthy new year. During this year we will have many opportunities to volunteer and expand our organization.
I thank the NYPD for their support and their willingness to work together with us. Please see the letter to our members from Commissioner Stephen in this newsletter.
I would like to thank everyone on our board for their help during this past year. Elizabeth Gill, Mike Hughes, Jon Schacter, Bill Buzzone, Earl Roberts, Dorothy Phelan, Brenda Hutto , Joe Garber, Ron Peterson, D. Lee Ezell, Ron Vega, Carlos Rios, and Ron Dillon. In addition, I must thank Marta Lebreton, our grievance committee chair for undertaking this large responsibility. We rely upon this committee.
To all of our members who participate?– THANK YOU SO MUCH.
We will have an Awards Ceremony in May. Police Commissioner Kelly has agreed to attend. At the awards ceremony we will be recognizing our members who have volunteered at our events and who have represented our organization at other events. If you have participated, please make sure you complete the form in the newsletter and give it to your borough Vice President or mail it to me at the PO Box. We want to be sure that your efforts are acknowledged. We Thank You!
At our Awards Ceremony we will also honor the members of the police department who have helped our organization and our membership. So I would like you to think of individuals ( officers including Chiefs, Deputy Commissioners, Commissioners, etc.) who you know who have helped us during this past year and complete the form in the newsletter. If you need more pages please make a copy of the form and give it to your Borough Vice Presidents or mail it to me at the PO Box. We want to be sure to honor those who help us.
I am thrilled to announce the following individuals have graciously volunteered to be committee chairs and they have been approved: Membership committee: Lillie Huey, Speaker?’s Committee: Todd Reisman, Finance Committee: William Buzzone. Parliamentarian: Joe Valentin, Sgt. At Arms: Louis Lopez, Stephen Geitheim, and Stan Hirschkorn. If you are interested in volunteering to be on any committee, please contact the committee chairs.
Our organization immediately reached out to try and help the victims of the TSUNAMI. We have members who are volunteering at the Queens Borough President?’s office. We will have lots of new volunteer opportunities this year. Thank you again for coming to our meetings and choosing to be part of our organization.
