THE NEW BUS STOPS ARE UGLY
CHEAP DEVICES FOR IMPROPER AND
DISTRACTING ADVERTISEMENT.
WE HAVE NEWSPAPERS AND RADIO AND
OVERHEAD UTILITY POLE BANNERS AND
JUNK WRITTEN ON BUSSES. WHY GO OFF
THE DEEP END AND HAVE IT AT THE
INTERSECTION WHERE ONE SHOULD BE ON
THE LOOKOUT FOR PEDISTRAINS AND CARS.
MAINLY, THE BUS STOPS ARE UGLY !!!
SPEND THE MONEY ON NEEDED SIDEWALKS !

New Bus Stop Shelters

I don't believe the new bus stop shelters are ugly, however, I agree with you that we have too much advertising and this just adds to the clutter. They do provide a valuable service (shelter) for bus patrons, most of whom are not fortunate enough to have sufficient resources to own a car.

The only real objection I have to some of the bus shelters is that they sometimes block the view of cross traffic at the intersection, such as the one at Oak Leigh and Thousand Oaks.

The shelters were not paid for by the City nor VIA, but were paid for and installed by the advertising firm and by the proceeds from the advertising. Therefore, spending the money on sidewalks would not be applicable.
