The city of Dallas has enacted a new noise ordinance and it works like this: Officers responding to a noise disturbance call to 911 will first issue a verbal warning if the noise level is unreasonable.
If officers have to return to the scene, a yellow noise warning card will be issued. If police return to the same location within 30 days of the card?’s being issued, the violator can be fined $500 or taken to jail.
Examples of noise violations include:
- Playing any radio or musical instrument with such volume as to disturb a person inside a dwelling.
- Any engine sound or exhaust noise that is excessive.
- The sounding of any horn or signal device.
