Wow! What a turnout.
Between 70 to 100 North Cliff residents and about 20 police officers attended the Aug. 7 National Night Out.
The 700 block of Pierce St., between Catherine Street and Brooklyn Avenue, was blocked off from vehicular traffic, and tables and chairs were set out along the middle of the street for all who
cared to sit, eat and make merry.
Food was abundant. Hot dogs and sodas were furnished by North Cliff Neighborhood Association, while neighbors contributed the remaining food goodies, which included deviled eggs, potato salad, chips, and scrumptious cakes, cookies and brownies. No one left hungry.
The pooch parade was a hit. The six contestants strutted and wagged ?“their doggie tails?” and a winner was chosen. He was a four-month-old pup dressed in an hand-sewn angel outfit. The pup won a free dog grooming session at the Bishop Arts Dog Grooming Studio, valued at more than $35.
Thanks goes to all who made the annual night out, whose purpose is to unite neighbors against crime, such a well-attended event.
