Several new tenants have moved into the buildings along 700 Pierce Street while others are patiently waiting for their spaces to become ready.
The first 700 Pierce Street pioneer tenant was Oak Cliff artist Olivette Hubler. Studio d?’Olivette is located at 723 Pierce.
Olivette had her grand opening on April 6, 2002, that featured her paintings as well as garden art by Leslie Widner. Art patrons from all over Dallas attended the opening, many of whom said they were impressed with the studio and our neighborhood.
Ms. Hubler?’s paintings included landscapes from the Southern Mediterranean area, as well as pastoral settings of the American Southwest and Cape Cod; Ms. Widner?’s garden art is lovely and quite creative! Be sure to stop by and say hello to these two talented artists!
In addition to the art studio, another 700 Pierce Street tenant is an artist, who offers art classes. She?’s just a few doors down from Studio d?’Olivette.
Plans call for a cafe and catering kitchen to open later this year. North Cliff resident Sheren Wicoff plans to serve breakfast, a light lunch that includes soup and sandwiches and homemade takeout dinners. Sheren is considering naming her establishment the ?“Trolley Stop?” in reference to the old Brooklyn Street Trolley line that used to travel from Hampton Street down Brooklyn Avenue and then turned onto Pierce Street.
