Thinking of cruisin' on a Sunday afternoon?
Don't do it on Sunday or any other afternoon or evening on parts of three streets in west Oak Cliff, says the Dallas City Council.
The council passed an ordinance against cruising Wednesday, saying the congestion has hampered police and fire response and access to businesses and residences.
The "no cruising zones" are:
- Clarendon Drive between Westmoreland and Hampton roads
- Hampton between Sharon Avenue and Catherine Street
- Westmoreland between Sharon and Brooklyndell avenues.
A driver can be cited for cruising by passing a traffic-control monitoring point in the zone three times during any two-hour period between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m.
A conviction could result in a fine of up to $500.
