BURTON ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE

(Andresen Road to NE 145th Avenue)

PHASE 1 - ANDRESEN ROAD TO NE 87TH AVENUE 
The last parcel of right-of-way has been acquired for Phase 1.Studies have revealed no major environmental issues for this stretch of the road. Houses that have been acquired between NE Andresen Road & NE 18th Street will be used for fire training by Vancouver Fire Services in late December to late January.Utility poles & lines will be relocated to fit the new configuration of the road. Construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2000. A new traffic signal will be installed at Andresen Road and the westerly extension of Burton Road.

PHASE 2 - NE 87TH AVENUE TO NE 112TH AVENUE 
Funds have not yet been released for right-of-way acquisition for Phase 2.The City is currently in the process of reviewing development plans & shoreline permit for Phase 2, which includes the bridge replacement over Burnt Bridge Creek. Utility poles and lines will be relocated to fit the new configuration of the road. Construction is scheduled to start in 2000.  

PHASE 3 - NE 112TH AVENUE TO NE 142ND AVENUE 
Some considerable changes have been made to the development plans for Phase 3.Proposed sidewalks have been moved to be adjacent to the curb to reduce property impacts to adjacent property owners. Funds have not yet been released for right-of-way acquisition for Phase 3. lines will be relocated to fit the new configuration of the road. Construction is scheduled to start in 2000.
