Jim Schwochow

Each area commission has on commissioner who is a mayor's appointee. Jim Schwochow was invited to come on board in 1991 because of his occupation. Awareness of the area and his shown commitment to the betterment of North Linden; Jim is a Columbus Police Officer.

Jim became an officer in 1971 and was assigned to the North Linden Area in January of 1972. Jim chose to stay in the area and became involved in working with area blockwatch groups. It was Jim's association with these groups that brought him to the attention of the Noth Linden Area Commission. When He was asked to be the mayor's appointee, Jim accepted with the understanding that he would be a 'working commissioner'! Officer Schwochow is on several committees within the commission and acts as a liaison with the Columbus Division of Police on safety related issues.

Officer Schwochow worked as a uniformed officer in North Linden, from January of 1972 to June of 1997. Jim is currently assigned to the municipal court liaison unit and works primarily in the court rooms of Judges Scott VanDerKarr and Mark Froehlich.

During his career on the Police Department, Jim Schwochow has been decorated eight times, been named police officer of the year and was awarded the mayor's award of excellence.

Jim Schwochow continues to be a 'working commissioner' on the North Linden Area Commission.
