North Ybor City Neighborhood Watch

Good morning all,

Just to over some of the concerns brought up at the meeting on 6/4/07:

1) Lights on 15th Ave East not working. I called TECO this morning and they should be out today to find out what the problem is. I do not curently know when the lights will be on but I will update you when I know more.

2) 1710 15th Ave East, City owned?
Still working on this one, I drove by last night and could not find this address, there are 2 abandoned house with the adresses of 1708 and 1712. Both look like they are being used as living facailites for our housing challenged. I will be back by here this afternoon to take pictures and contact code enforcment.

3) Speeding on Friday and Saturday nights?
CPT Bartlett had me notify Traffic to begin working on speeding issues in this area on the weekends, I will see if I can get a DUI unit out there to assist them.

4) Alley that runs parallel to Columbus, people hanging out? I will notify our QUAD unit about the activity and update you with the information they send back.

We are also putting a list together of the people in your neighborhood with significant criminal associations, once legal approves it I will pass it along.

More Info

1) No reply back yet from TECO on the light situation.

2) I contacted Harold Scott about the 2 properties, as well as sent him pictures of the camps and general disrepair of the properties. He in turn forwarded it to Inspector john McLeish who is supposed to be calling me with an update.

3) I forwarded this complaint to SGT. Giguere of Tampa Police Department. he is in charge of Traffic. Will update when I hear from him.

4)Made contact with the person living at the house, turns out they have also had thier car burglarized recently and reported it. I will follow up on this as I gain more information.

Info on 6/7/07

1) I recieved an automated telephone call from TECO that a repair tech was working on the lights, they did not tell me how long they expected it to take to get them working. I will call them back and find out a status.

2)John McLeish of Code Enforecement contacted me about the 2 properties.

1708 is currently in th courts as the old owner died and had no heirs. there are liens on both the house and the property at this location.

1712 was being looked at by the city for low income housing, however at this time there is no room in the budget to go through with this.

I went to the property yesterday morning and the door had been kicked in and the wooden security devices pulled away from the door so I had a patrol officer clear the house.

Later in the day I also recieved information that MPO Seckley and Ofc Mathews had tresspassed another individual from the same house.

There are active tresspass affidavits on file at the police department on both properties. CALL POLICE IF YOU SEE ANYONE THERE.

3) There will be a DUI traffic unit patrol this area on the weekends from this weekend forward, I will update you when I hear back on what kind of activity they encountered.

4) No new developments on this at this time.
