The Mayor's Youth Council is a group of 30 high school juniors and seniors who work with the Mayor's Office to advocate for youth in the community, create new youth-driven initiatives and advise the Mayor's Office on youth issues. This past year's class was responsible for helping plan the Youth Summit, Bands in the Park, a community-mapping project for East Nashville,as well as setting the format for how the council operates. Applications for the 2000-2001 class of the Mayor's Youth Council are now available. Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors in high school, live in Davidson County, and be able to attend monthly council meetings as well as weekly committee meetings. Selected candidates will serve on the Council for one year beginning September 1, 2000.
