Fight the Sunrise Power Scam

This is a boondoggle to help Sempra, not us!

The monstrously huge power line that Sempra Energy proposes to build through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is not for the benefit of the people of San Diego County. It's all for the benefit of Sempra's stockholders by shipping electricity from Mexicali and selling it in L.A., San Bernardino and beyond. SDG&E's Jim Avery slipped a little when he said that SDG&E ratepayers would pay for only 10 percent of the cost of the line. That means that 90 percent of the electricity will go elsewhere.

Their 2003 preferred route was on the east side of Salton Sea through Coachella Valley to San Bernardino County. Why now this entirely different route? Could it be that the billionaires in Rancho Mirage shut them down because they didn't want to spend the rest of their lives playing golf under, and from their cocktail lounge windows stare at, gargantuan steel towers and thick cables as the dominant features? Sempra needed a path of less resistance. They think they have found it by going through A-B D State Park.

Join with Citizens United for Sensible Power (CUSP) now to stop them. For more information, go to www.peoplespowerlink.org and Jim Ward, Friends of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, jpward@sdcoe.net.
