Salado Creek is like a secret treasure of strength.

By its peaceful banks I can lose the bad and catch the good.

The minnows never laugh at me.

Not one single butterfly has ever called me stupid.

The sparrows don't care if I'm not the fastest one.

The rabbits I discover on the hidden forest trails never bully me.

The flowers don't gossip.

The clouds, all of them, never tell me to just shut up.

Even the snakes, even the snakes never ever use hateful, hurtful words.

The water rushing over the rocks is never too busy to visit with me.

And the trees, the trees are always there for me, standing tall and strong.

The trees listen to all my secret dreams, the treasures of my soul, and they never ever tell.

Sit. Stay.

Be still.

Be silent.

When the Blue Jay calls his own name and the cicadas sing a noisy song you can hear the sound of peace.
