Interesting insects. A lovely lake. Learning games. These are a few of their favorite things.
Fourth grade students in Mr. Williams' class from Cameron Elementary in San Antonio recently enjoyed a fun and educational trip to the Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne.
The students remember many wonderful sights, sounds and smells. The nature center had tall trees and lots of different kinds of flowers and grasses. It had a marsh and a creek and volunteers who helped the students learn more about this special place.
Amber said her favorite thing was getting to take a walk and see the nice big marsh. Shaun said the water had invertebrates and vertebrates to study. He said he enjoyed looking at fish. Brandi liked the water too. She said her favorite part of the trip was using a fishing net to capture and release water spiders. Brandi said some of the spiders were so small she had to have a magnifying glass to see them.
Juan said his favorite part of the trip was a fun game about survival. He said in the game, a wolf was trying to get a rancher's cows and the students who were acting like cows had to think about what they would do to protect themselves.
The students agreed that an outdoor classroom is a fun place to learn important information.
