The 2009 City of Memphis Neighborhood Directory and How to Organize a Neighborhood Association Guidebook are now available on the the City of Memphis website. The 2009 Neighborhood Directory is a comprehensive listing of the more than 400 neighborhood, community and civic leaders that have reregistered their organizations with Neighborhood Relations. In addition, listings of Community Development Corporations, foundations, and city, county, state and school board elected officials and frequently called City of Memphis phone numbers have been published in the new directory.
The How to Organize a Neighborhood Association Guidebook is a new resource tool that was developed to help Memphis?’ citizens form and enhance neighborhood, community and civic organizations. Lashea West, Neighborhood Relations Manager, states, ?“Our staff has adopted best practices and resources from several cities throughout the United States to compile this guidebook, which serves as a capacity building tool. Additionally, the publication will help neighborhoods learn to identify ways they can become more active in determining the destiny of their own communities.?”
