I just moved into MV 2 months ago and I am very disappointed. This is my first home purchase and I am regretting my decision. After vigorous attempts by my real estate agent, I agreed to visit MV. I fell in love with my home. At first I refused because of the reputation that MV has now of becoming the next Brookmont Farms. I put that aside and purchased my first home here. Now I am not thrilled with this neighborhood. Is it not cold outside? I am concerned about all of the people just ''hanging out'' in the neighborhood. It just doesn't look good and I feel there should be some restrictions atound it. Also, Do we all not have backyards and decks? What is the need to sit out front all of the time? MV has the postential to be a very nice neighborhood and my fear is that the reputation will start to prove itself.
Agreed

I also recently bought a home in MV and am bothered by all of the kids hanging around on the front steps. Every day when I get home I have to wait for all the basketballer to get out of the street to drive through. There is plenty of space in the surrounding areas so that these people don't have to play in the street. How civilized is this area anyway?

Thank you for replying to my message. I was hoping that someone would see it and respond. The civic association president and I have been emailing back and forth about this issue. I bet your real estate agent never told you about these issues did she? How about that our street (I am assuming you live on the same street by your response, I've seen the basketball hoop)is one of the worst streets. The New Castle county police know the street very well especially where we are located. If you get a chance, contact me by email and we can discuss this further, because something needs to be done. Just think it's cold and rainy outside now and they are doing this, just wait until summertime!!!
Loitering

I have lived in MV since July of '03 and it is disappointing that some of the kids in the neighborhood ruin it for all. There are many respectful kids, some of which live way in the back of the single familys (where I live). I take pride in my home and want my neighbors and fellow community members to respect it.
It was an eye opener to come home after work and find some of the riff-raff playing basketball in my driveway where I have installed a goal. The loitering in the summer did improve this past summer with the cooperation of the NCCo Police. I do believe that there were a couple of arrests made with kids shouting at the officers. After this event, things were significantly different. I hope this trend continues. I also urge that the Civic Association investigate right-of-way restrictions which may prohibit these portable basketball goals. This might be a cure to the eye-sore/kids in the street issues associated with them.
