ARNA Hearing Panel

Anyone interested in the Wendy's proposed development and the Demolition Permit Hearing should attend the ARNA Hearing Panel Monday, August 26, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Church. Move forward with it!

I sat in the review panel Monday night in amazement.

One neighbor spent 15 minutes of our time tellign the developer he knew more about his business. Thas was not the discussion point.

Another neighbor said having a well lit business there as opposed to an abandoned run down building would be less safe. Absurd. It will only add to the safety of the area.

And finally, another argued the historic relevance of the building but did not take the time required to research the history of the building, when it was built, what it was used for or how it could possibly be historic. (If you want to save a building please know why or you are wasting our time.)

I think the much needed development of Tchopitoulas has improved our neighborhood. I think the new devlopment will continue to make it more appealing to the people who work and rent here. I hope the project gets approved by the city council for the next phase and goes up quickly.
