At 7:00 pm the meeting was called to order by President Ray Shafferman. Fourteen people were in attendance. Each one signed a paper that is attached to the Secretary’s copy of the minutes.
As per our new by-laws, the President and Secretary positions were up for re-election. There were no additional candidates for these positions. As such, Ray and Andrew agreed to continue in their respective roles. A motion was made, seconded, and approved by those in attendance.
County Councilman, Timothy Sheldon, was unable to attend the meeting so his Legislative Aide, Michael S. Rodriguez, attended in his place. Michael discussed topics including recent police reports for the area as well as code violations in the development. Code violations were primarily due to property maintenance. Several members of the community expressed concerns due to grass height and overgrowth. Michael obtained contact information from these individuals to provide further information. Please note that concerns surrounding New Castle County Code violations can be sent to Timothy Sheldon or his aide, Michael Rodriguez, by phone or by email. The concerns can be made anonymously.
Regarding police reports, if you need to report a problem or concern, it is your responsibility to contact New Castle County police. As only witnesses can make these reports.
Michael also discusses recent events in New Castle County including sewer billing, vacant homes and sheriff sales, and the hiring of additional qualified paramedics. It was also noted that Carousel Park has closed their onsite recycling area; however, a new location will be opened. The website above will be updated with further information when it is obtained.
Mary Beth Coté, the Treasurer, read the Treasury Report. These reports can be seen at any regular meeting. The proposed budget for 2009 was also discussed. A motion was made to increase the Social Committee budget by an additional $100.00. The motion was seconded and approved. Additionally, a proposal was made to keep the same grass mowing and snow removal services for the upcoming year. The motion was seconded and approved. Finally, a motion was made to approve the 2009 budget, which was seconded and approved.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:45pm.
Our next scheduled neighborhood meeting is Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00 pm, in the Shue-Medill choir room. All residents are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Andrew Mackiewicz
