Dear Mary,

The video does not surprise me as China, India, Poland, and Singapore prepared their students for academic excellence for 50 years.  According to Thomas Friedman's 2003 futuristic book, "The World Is Flat", the United States economic output barely shades that of the nation of China.  Friedman wrote if U.S. government education policy does not wisen up, Chinese and Indian students will have the remainder of U.S. service and manufacturing jobs. 

In the meantime, what will the U.S. do to acheive academic excellence?  Probably very little as school systems fight for federal and state budget money.

Get ready to start learning Chinese by 2020.

If we get the greed out of the system from the union workers, we can make things happen. Teachers and firefighters seem to have their piggy thoughts at the trough rather than accomplishing things from challenges.
