Dear Arthur,

Valley Breeze recently reported new tenants totally desecrated Sacred Heart Church. Major statue of Jesus Christ at Central Avenue side of building has been removed, leaving large imprint on the front of the 1953-built structure.

Does any reader recall what will happen to the huge statue?

Peace,

Ludlow1

I recall that they were sending to another church...I believe in Woonsocket and I think it was dis-assembled for that very huge task of moving it, but perhaps someone has better info.

Article in the Valley Breeze today shows the statue being redone and the church trying to find a location for the statue.

It looks like the merger for the churches is still in negotiation, so the saga of the consolidation is still in play!

Dear Arthur,

The Diocese of Providence is not the only group of Roman Catholics dealing with mergers.  This week, the Columbus, Ohio "Dispatch" reports that in 2010, 52 churches in the Columbus area will be merged.

Local Roman Catholics will not be the only ones experiencing merger over the next few years.  Watch the progress of local mainline Protestant churches.

Peace,

Ludlow1
