Help name the Forest Pond newsletter and win a very nice prize.  This contest is open to all residents within Forest Pond.  The winner will be identified with their photo in the newsletter and will receive a reward for the winning entry.

First, a little information; Forest Pond is located at one of the many designated headwaters areas for Mallard Creek.  In addition, we have an abundant amount of wildlife in the wetland area to the east of our neighborhood and a biosphere of plants from which to draw our newsletter name.

The rules:  The name must show or demonstrate a connection to our subdivision name and must be as resilient as  a hard wood tree, as malleable as water, and as comforting as a shade tree on a lazy summer day.  All entries must be submitted by a resident of Forest Pond - homeowners and renters alike can enter as many unique names as they like.  Each entry will have to be accompanied by a write up explaining why that name was chosen and how it ties in with our subdivision name.

The deadline for this contest is Wednesday, April 30, 2008.  All entries must be in the possession of the newsletter editor, one of the Board of Directors, one of the Block Captains of the Neighborhood Watch Committee, or a member of the Welcoming Committee.  The entries will be posted in the May newsletter and voting will be conducted by residents and participants on the Discussion Forum.  Each registered forum participant will be allowed one vote each.

Sample names that you can use as long as you write up the reason you feel it is a good name and can show its connection to our neighborhood.  The Shade Tree, The Shade Tree Reader, The Forest Pond Frond, The Greenery, The Waterway, The Woodland Treatise, The Forest Essay, The Monthly Script.  As you can see, I could go on for quite a while.

Put your creative juices to work, encourage your children, and suggest a catchy name that will be around for a long time.

I know I'm about a year late, but there haven't been any other responses. How about The Monthly Splash or The Pine Bark Monthly? Monthly is obvious. Splash refers to both the water theme of our namesake pond and the news that's splashed by way of the newsletter. Pine as not only a common tree but our state tree. Bark as both the part of the tree, but also the communication a dog makes (as so commonly heard through our neighborhood.
