* The previous FAR Part 150 Study was approved by the City Council on December 13, 1990 and the FAA on October 8, 1991
* The City has spent $12.6 million for noise projects, of which $9.7 million came from Federal Airport Improvement Program grant funds
* Sound Insulation program for noise sensitive buildings
- 19 churches
- 10 schools
- 1 library
- 2 nursing homes
- Residential sound insulation pilot program
* Ground run-up enclosure
* FAR Part 150 Study Update
WHAT IS A FAR PART 150 STUDY?
* An airport noise compatibility study
* Voluntary program which:
- Assesses and quantifies aircraft noise exposure in the Airport environs
- Identifies measures to reduce aircraft noise exposure (noise abatement) and limit its effect (noise mitigation)
- Outlines a program for implementation and monitoring of noise abatement and mitigation measures
- Makes the Airport sponsor eligible for federal funding to implement noise measures
* The noise study update is needed to reflect changes in aircraft operations, fleet mix, and land uses in the Aiport environs
* The Airport Noise and Capacity Act of 1990 (ANCA)
- Noisier (Stage 2) aircraft weighing over 75,000 lbs (DC-9, B-737, B-727 and larger) phased out by end of 1999
- Prohibits communities from imposing further noise-related restrictions without conducting a detailed economics study (FAR Part 161 study)
* The Airport is served exclusively by Stage 3 (quieter) air carrier aircraft
