New Alice's Restaurant Ban the Flyovers Movement

May 15, 2000

I can see it now. Just like in the 1966 hit song "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie, we could have a protest movement where we walk into the Noise Abatement Office and sing a few bars of the New Alice's Restaurant - Then walk out.

Can you imagine the look on their faces after a small band of people go in, sing a few bars, then walk out? I can. And that's why I am proposing the NEW ALICE'S RESTAURANT BAN THE FLYOVERS MOVEMENT!

Sing with me now.

You can get anything you want -
At Alice's Restaurant.
Yes, you can get anything you want -
At Alice's Restaurant.
Walk right in, it's around the back.
Just a half a mile from the new flight track.
You can get anything you want.
At Alice's Restaurant.
(Excepting Alice).

A friend sent this newly revised second verse.

You can't hear any noise you want
At Alice's Restaurant
Yes, you can't hear any noise you want
At Alice's Restaurant
Sounds so loud that my ear drum crack
Because of all that noise from the new flight track.
You can't hear anything you want.
At Alice's Restaurant.
(Not even this song).
