Mr. Carpenter:
I have recently been made aware of a plan to redirect San Antonio air traffic over the Northern Hills subdivision in which I live. This airplane noise redistribution plan will harm me and others in our neighborhood by affecting
our quality of life as well as bringing down the value of our property. This is unacceptable!
I would like to know your position on this plan.
One of the reasons I purchased my home in this neighborhood was the fact that it was out of the direct flight route. Having grown up in the Northwood subdivision, I am well aware of the kind of noise generated by these planes
and do not want it over my house.
Further, I don't understand how flights can be arbitrarily redirected over a new neighborhood for no apparent reason other than the complaints of the current neighborhood.
Well, these residents knew what they were getting into when they purchased their property. We did purchase our homes with this in mind! The houses and buildings in this neighborhood are not properly insulated for this type of noise. And, the residents are not financially prepared for it. The cost of new windows and soundproofing alone would cost thousands of dollars for each
home.
I would appreciate your response to this e-mail.
I can assure you that myself and others in this community will not sit idly by and watch this unilateral action cause us harm.
Sincerely,
Clifton F. Gillette
