Objective #1 - maybe

Although most crime is drug related, not all is, so this could be an issue here or in a seperate objective...

Our crime rate ranks 7th worst of the 32 recognized neighborhoods in Vancouver, rivaling Shumway and Rose Village, and actually exceeding Bagley Downs, Hough & VanMall! We need to really get more neighborhood-police partnership going on, with ways for people to report suspicious activity, neighborhood watch, neighborhood block houses, etc. This really need to be a big focus, to bring our crime rate down & our livablilty up.

traffic calming

several measures should be looked at as ways of getting drivers to slow down on our major interior roadways:

*more curbs/sidewalks where they don't exist - this narrows the look of the road

*dividing lines down the major roals like Fairmount & Watson - this also narrows the look of the road

*push-outs (where the curb comes out intead of curb parking at the intersection, causing the road to be more narrow at the intersection)

*more greenery (trees, flowers) near and around the above (maybe even maintained by the neighborhood association) - this narrows the look of the road
