A special letter of Congratualations was received from Jane Hammond, Superintendent, Jefferson County Schools for 4th grade reading improvement between 1998/1999 and 1999/2000!
Welcome back to all Stein students, parents and community members! I look for the 2000-2001 school year to be a great year at Stein We have assembled what I believe to be the best faculty and staff in the district. We have a new assistant principal, Socorro Alarcon, who comes to us from the Denver Public Schools. She will be a great addition to our staff. Also, we have numerous new faculty members joining our Stein family
We have great news to report regarding the CSAP scores from last year. In the 1998-1999 school year only 24% of our fourth graders scored at the proficient or above category on the reading test. For the 1999-2000 school year (last year) our fourth graders scored 48% proficient or above! Also, 100% of our fourth grade Spanish speakers scored at proficient and above! We are making great progress and look forward to continued improvement. We are well on our way to becoming the flagship school we all know we can be.
A new sign for Stein. Through the efforts of the PTO a beautiful new 6-foot sign will be erected on the west side of the building The sign will be used to communicate upcoming events and general announcements pertaining to Stein. Special thanks to Debbie Koop for helping to select the design of the sign. Also, we are installing a faculty and staff directory in the school lobby that will assist the community in locating teachers and other staff members in the building.
Finally, as principal, I want the community to know that I am committed to providing a high quality education for all our students-yet I cannot do it alone. I am depending upon the support of the community to help ensure success for all our students
