Lakewood's First Annual Community Forum

The Community forum was held Saturday, March 18th, 2000 at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel and Conference Center. It was coordinated by Citizens for Lakewood department of Community Planning and Development. From our neighborhood, Bob Hope and Barb and Ed Heckle were in attendance. Everyone was invited to participate in this unique forum as we investigated the challenges we face in Lakewood and what we can do to strengthen our community and how can we take an active role in developing a strong and healthy community.
Presentations were made on the following topics:
? City Code Enforcement
? Residential Development in Neighborhoods
? Community Safety
? Legal Resources for Neighborhood Associations
? Traffic Control
? Commercial Property Development
The keynote speaker was Mike Green. He talked about he power of acting together, and the ability to act to achieve.
Mayor Steve Burkholder presented awards and made closing remarks. This was a powerful conference. We look forward to implementing some of the things we learned to make O'Kane Neighborhood Association a better place to live.
