How times have changed!
Telephone service first came to Lakewood in 1909. It wasn't until midnight April 21, 1951 that dial service started! Early Lakewood phone numbers were unusual, some were simply Lakewood one, or two, etc. Some numbers were followed by a letter such as R, J, or M indicating party lines. Today, we now have 10 digit dialing, how times have changed!
