Dear Mike:
Enjoyed speaking with you on the phone today regarding the proposed removal of approximately nine mature Bradford Pear trees located just behind the brick entrance on both sides of the entrance to the Oak Ridge subdivision, at the intersection of Hwy 119 and Oak Ridge Drive (directly across the street from Heardmont Park). Thanks for visiting our front entrance at the end of January to assess the situation.
On Monday, April 26, 2004, ORHA held a neighborhood meeting at the North Shelby County Library to discuss the plans for the front entrance. Of the 65 households in our neighborhood, 21 households (32%) were represented at the meeting. The ORHA bylaws define a quorum as 25%, and a quorum was present. A vote was taken and the majority of those present voted for the removal of the Bradford Pear trees. Please accept this letter as your authorization to proceed with the removal of the Bradford Pear trees as soon as possible. Our understanding is that Alabama Power is willing to remove the trees, at no charge, due to their location directly below and entangled above, the electrical lines along Hwy 119. ORHA will assume responsibility for grinding the stumps.
Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to provide.
Sincerely,
Henry Mark Coby
