As the new Public Information Officer for Gulfpark Estates Volunteer Fire Department, I hope to get our volunteers more involved in the communities we serve. Those communitites are St. Andrews, Pinehurst, Gulfpark Estates & parks of Ocean Beach.
We have quite a few plans on the table and are currently in the process of setting priorities of what we plan to do.
One major concern is getting more people involved in what Fire Safety In The Home is All About. What you know as a resident can make a difference.

We are also going to produce decals that we will distribute and place on the upper right hand corner of any Children's Bedroom of your home so we can ensure that the Children are not hiding from the fire and we can get them out safely.

We are also looking for additional Volunteer Fire Fighters, so if you are someone you know might be interested, please contact me by E-Mail.

You will be seeing our Gulfpark Estate Volunteers druving around th meet and greet newcomers to our area. We want them to know who and what we are as well as help them with Fire Safety.

Any suggestions or comments you might have are always appreciated.

In case you are not aware, we have a new Chief, Greg Allen, who is both an experienced Fire Fighter and a man who
cares about his people and his community.

CERT auxillary to Fire Dept

Speedy,

I was wondering if a St Andrews Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) should form as an auxilary to the fire department to assist the fire department. The purpose would be to provide manpower for removal of debris obstructing access to imporant roadways by emergency vehicle and utility repair crews. In the event of widespread damage, the county road department will probably take days to clear our roads, and we may be able to speed our recovery significantly by helping with debris removal. Will the Fire Department support a CERT team?

Al, I think that is a Great idea, as we could have used that when all the debris was scattering all over by the Water Tower in 2002.
