Money, Money!

Solicitors have always been the prosecutors at Mayor's Court.

It will be interesting to see how much you will be able to lower the solicitor's salary. People don't work cheap for nothing.

Attorneys lies when it suits their purpose. And then no one will speak up. Valleyview has suffered because of it.

Watkins said his attorney works for him for free. Why not try for her? I guess she will be his attorney when I blow the whistle on him. It is a shame there are not background check on candidates before an election.

I hope council has the good sense not to hire her. It would be like having Russolillo and Ed Kirk back.
???????

You should have put, ''must be bondable.''

This should be done before the person is hired.

Ad Language

It is explained to the applicants at the time they submit an application that they must be bondable. When they are submitted to the insurance company to be bonded if they are unable to be bonded they are terminated.

In the interest of keeping the ad as short as possible that language was not included in the ad. That is a good suggestion and in the future we may include that language.

Village Solicitor

That is true, but there is no requirement that it has to continue that way. The Village Council has the lawful ability to hire two individuals if they feel that it is better to seperate the duties of the Solicitor and Prosecutor. Again, just because it was always been done that way does not mean that it cannot change. This is just one option available to the Village Council to insure that the Village is being served correctly and in the best interests of the residents and Village.

It will be interesting to see what attorneys' fees are offered to the Village. Unlike the previous administrations that just named an attorney and did not seem to fill the job properly, this administration is seeking resumes and will be interviewing candidates. The Residents should expect that of their Village government. There is no guarantee that the price will go down. The Village Council will have to look at each candidate and make a decision that serves the Village best.

No Comment. This would be for Mr. Watkins to comment on.

I can guarantee that the attorney you are referring to will not be applying for the job. Council will review the candidates and make the best decision for the Village. It will be conducted in the open and residents will have full access to the records.

If anyone has a question about the process please contact me or attend a Council Meeting and ask your questions there. The Council will be making the decision in May so that the new Solicitor/Prosecutor can begin work June 1st.
