You know why nobody showed up at the meeting besides a few people (and taking into consideration some who had other commitments they could not get out of - the trustees set this meeting in the middle of soccer, baseball and softball season) - the residents are happy with the way things are going and the trustees did a wonderful job last year. Start talking about fines again and you will surely have a fun packed room. Test it and see. I guarantee you will have all the residents you want show at the meeting.

What do we do?
After reading many of these posts I believe there is a great concern about people maintaining their property. What do you suggest we do? As I drove through different subdivisions I say signs up for association meetings. Most recently Wedgewood. At around this timeframe. When do you suggest they have their meeting? In a way I agree with a previous post that suggest we just raise the dues to cover lawn weed controll. Those who spend the money won't mind knowing that all the yards will be kept up. Does anyone know how many of our neighbors have not paid their dues? |

What not to do
You cannot raise fees to pay for weed killer for everybody's yards. You will surely end up with a lawsuit since there are some who are environmentalists who oppose putting down weed killer. You might even have to look into trespassing laws for something like this. This is a really touchy area that better be looked into thoroughly before even thinking about doing something like this. I do not want anybody in my yard dropping weed killer. My lawn is green and I drop my own fertilizer. We have very few weeds. I do not wish to pay somebody to keep my yard weed free when I can do it on my own. The HOA's lawn service is not doing their job anyways. I saw dandelions at the Seldom Seen entrance and the Powell Road entrance. Start worrying about what we do pay for in our dues and make sure the common grounds are weed free. |

good point
You brought up that other neighborhoods had signs up for their meeting. Maybe it would have been a good idea to do the same here as a reminder. That is a good idea for next time. |
