Just heard something on this evening's news (March 23, 2006, Chl 5).
They said that the storm sirens in OKC are set off to alert residents to check the weather advisory on their televisions or radios and find out the status of storms in their area and find out whether they need to take shelter immediately or not.
Since OKC has no community shelters, they use the sirens as a ''warning device''.
However, they also said that in Edmond, the storm sirens mean ''take shelter immediately''.
I thought this was interesting to learn and wanted to share it with those of you who missed the news report.
It explains why the siren at the Monroe school has went off and there wasn't a cloud in the sky nearby!
