Hello to all of Oakcliff and I pray that all is going well in your life. I just wanted to press a couple of issues home today. As you all know, we have been working very hard to improve our neighborhood. We have some pretty good ideas and plans for Oakcliff. There are many of us that would love to have things like a water park, library, and activity center of some kind and or a place to play basketball. There are many wonderful things that could be done to make our home a better place and I would love to do many if not all of these things. I just want to stress that we have got to make sure that our elected officials know that we care and want more for our neighborhood. If we want to make changes, we are going to have to make our elected officials understand that we are for real and will be a force to be reckoned with if we are not taken serious.
I have said on many occasions that if we want those outside of Oakcliff to take us more serious and to respond to our desires and needs, we have got to get there attention. We have had a lot of home invasions in the past few months and there have been some complaints of slow or no response from the Oklahoma City Police Department. I can almost guarantee that we will get the full and undivided attention of our elected officials if we will VOTE! We have the opportunity in the next two weeks to get out to the polling place (which is at Highland Park Elementary) and cast our votes. The power that we will gain if we will let our voices be heard this election period will be overwhelming to the politicians. We will no longer have to worry about a lack of police presence in our neighborhood or that when you call Animal Control about stray animals you might be totally ignored or have to wonder if there will be a response at all. I am telling you that voting power is an incredible power that politicians will pay attention to.
There are many different seats up for election throughout the state and they are all important. I know that there are a lot of people that believe that ?“their one vote doesn?’t count?”. Please, don?’t believe this lie, there have been several important elections that have been won and lost by just one vote. In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German. In 1845, one vote made Texas apart of America. There were three presidential elections that were won by one vote in the House of Representatives (1800, 1824 and 1876). Adolph Hitler was elected the leader of the Nazi Party and we know where that went.
We need to vote, but we should all be informed voters and know what is at stake and what the candidates and especially the incumbent Officers have voted for and believe in. I have added a few web sites to this message to help anyone that is interested in getting more information on the candidates do so. For information on Economic growth issues,http://www.probizok.com/ Information on Pro-family issues http://www.okfamilypc.org/ www.okforlife.org
These are just three of the sites that a person could visit to get important information on the issues that you are interested in. I will continue to look for more information and pass it on as I find it.
