Okc to offer storm shelter rebates

How to apply

Residents can apply online at www.okc.gov/saferoom or pick up an application at the city clerk's office on the second floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker Ave. City Emergency Manager Frank Barnes urged people to check out frequently asked questions about the program on the city website, www.okc.gov.

The Oklahoma City Council unanimously approved the rebate plan at its meeting Tuesday. The program uses federal money to reimburse homeowners who install the safe rooms or shelters.

The city will use a random electronic selection process to choose about 500 homes.
