June 25, 2002

In attendance: Board Members: Donna DeGeorge, Nelson Bock, Kipp Lockwood, Joe Pollara, Paul Brothe Guests: JimWiseman, Don Gortner

?• The group decided to delay the election of officers until the next meeting.
?• The next general neighborhood meeting will be in conjunction with National Night Out, August 6, 2002, in the evening. Paul Brothe will check with Marla and Leon Graber to request the use of their yard (north east corner of Emerson and 24th Avenue). Nelson and Bonita organized this event last year and will organize again this year.
?• Sub-committees will be discussed at the next meeting.
?• Jim Wiseman presented information that the overlay district zoning would probably not be applicable to what we want to limit in our neighborhood. The Denver Planning Office has indicated that they do not want any changes to the current zoning language. This limits our options to OD-6 or OD-9 language, which is not applicable with our current R-3 zoning.
?• Jim Wiseman discussed landmark status. There is a deadline looming of October for the neighborhood to submit for a grant to underwrite the research needed for the application. The group discussed that this topic would need to be the focus of an entire meeting, tentatively scheduled for July 30, 2002.
?• Jim Wiseman also presented two proposals for a new street grid for East Village. The proposals were discussed at a recent planning meeting.
?• Kipp Lockwood submitted a proposed letter regarding parking issues with neighborhood churches. Too many people are parking in no parking zones and it is creating a hazard. The group discussed taking the situation to our neighborhood policeman, Paul Hoskins instead.
?• The group briefly discussed the organization of Denver government. Joe Pollara will put together a summary of responsibilities and people to contact.
?• To facilitate attendance everyone was assigned to contact at least one other person for upcoming meetings.
?• Donna is paired with Helen, Nelson will contact Kathryn and Ariel, Joe will contact Mary Ann and Marty, Kipp will contact Ken.
