I am closing on a home in a couple of weeks. It's about a block from the tracks. Could someone tell me just how bad the train noise is? I hear the horn is very loud. I also hear that they are working on a city ordinance to decrease the loudness of the horn. Is this true? If so, are they close to passing it? I'm concerned about signing on the dotted line...I didn't realize I was so close to the tracks...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some insight! Laughing

I helped form WNCA about 18 years ago.  Onc of the first things that we accomplished was the closing of the Birdsall street RR crossing.  Believe me, things were a LOT noiser prior to getting the City of Houston and Union Pacific to close down that intersection.

I have since sold my place and moved down to Clear Lake.  Would hope that things are a bit quiter now than they used to be.  All in all, Woodcrest is a very convenient location!

The "train noise" you are concerned about may save your life. It's difficult for most to understand this. Enjoy your neighborhood and the sounds that come with it. The train was there and builders built around them.
