Two women talking together over a fence decided to try and garner interest in a Civic Association. They started knocking on doors in January 1991 and had a meeting that month with some of the interested homeowners. In February Dan and I were out washing our vehicles (a warm day of course) when these two women with a baby stroller came walking down the street. Hellos were exchanged, introductions and then ''We are trying to start a civic club, are you interested?'' These were the sweetest words we had heard in a long time. We had talked about selling and moving on because the neighborhood was declining. We attended the second meeting with some of our new neighbors. Talk about a snowball effect, officially our first meeting was held on June 11th 1991. We had Officers, Board of Directors/Street Representatives and Committees. And last but not least our association had 30 members the night of that first meeting.
